Technology, Pedagogy, and Content Knowledge Reflection
Understanding how technology, pedagogy, and content connect was a real eye opener. In today's age, where students are so tech savvy, and technology in education is growing exponentially having the ability to utilize as a resource is a great skill. Having technology in the classroom is very beneficial, but only if you understand how to use it. Having a strong teaching background and understanding of how students learn and how to teach them is very important. teachers aren't successful is there have no pedagogy and thus are not effective in the classroom. Teachers also need to be content experts. Understanding technology and having a foundation in how students learn in helpful, but no knowledge of the content areas leaves teachers looking like novices. The reverse gallery walk showed how the three areas overlap and having expertise in only one or two areas leaves the teacher unsuccessful. Great teachers know how to teach, what they are teaching, and how to support their lessons and students with technology. I think each thing needs time to develop and a willingness to gain experience to be competent in each.
