Technology Enhanced Lesson Plan: US History
Overview/Objective:
SWBAT: Student will be able to create a creative informational poster on an American President by going to an online resource and presenting the information.
Background: Students have been studying American history. Students will partner up to study one US President. In the class, each pair will choose/be assigned one US presidents. Student will complete a research project on a US president using web resources. They will gather information and create an informative creative “Wanted” poster. They will present these posters in class. Two part/day assignment.
Materials:
Instructions/Guidelines printout
Presidents' List
Computer Access/Lab time
Computer Access/Printer/Internet
Poster Paper
Art supplies
Document Camera to project posters.
Lesson:
Part1/Day1
Do Now: List last 2 US Presidents
Present Youtube video (animaniacs cartoon of all presidents) to refresh students on Presidents of US and capture student's interest.
Students will choose partners.
Students will choose from the available presidents. No overlap. Googlesign-up available.
Students will reserve computer/lab/class time to complete research

Directions/Instructions for students:
Fill in Your Name and Partner’s Name in Name Section
Fill in Presidents Name in Topic
Click Next
Fill in what you KNOW (the K section of Chart) about president (at least 4 things)
Click Next
Fill in what you WANT to know (the W section of Chart) about president (at least 10 things)
Go to website: biography.com and search your for your president.
Watch the video(s) and read the profile.
Fill in what you LEARNED (the L section of the Chart) (at least 15 new things)
Click Next
KWL same page for format option
Click finish.
Print out if possible, save to your school locker and email to me on school loop.
Part 2/Day 2
Students will work independently in their pairs to create posters.
Students will retrieve KWL charts and work on wanted posters with partner.
Need to include 10 facts about the President and a picture.
They can also go online and lo up examples of wanted posters.
Exit/Recap: Students will present wanted poster. Each group gets 5-10 mins. The will be projected with the Document Reader. After students present the posters will be displayed on the Class wall/Bulletin boards.
